Listen to Pat talking about her knitted creations on BBC Radio Coventry & Warwickshire's Trish Adudu show on Monday 20th April 2015
Pat talks to fellow countryman Pat Breslin of Black County Radio about the knit and knatter project she and her fellow Grans on the Make are engaged in to make two commemorative panels.
Current Project
Along with two other friends, Pat has just completed a year long community engagement project commemorating the twin centenaries for the end of World War I and Votes for Women.
The pixelart poppy contained 1568 4 inch knitted and crocheted squares, one for each day of the war. The suffragette panel contained over 1500 crocheted and knitted flowers around its border, sewn on in a morning by a dedicated team form all the local community groups and WI's.
You can read more about these at https://fb.com/gransonthemake. This was run at ICHF Events Creative Craft shows at all the major exhibition centres throughout the UK from Glasgow to Exeter. Such was the engagement, the project raised £5.5k for the the Royal British Legion, the Pankhurst Centre and Erskine Care Homes, Glasgow.
Pat was invited to display the poppy as part of the Youth Festival of Remembrance in Folkestone during Remembrance weekend.
Previously Pat has been part of a duo known as Grans on the Run who covered a car in knitting and raised £13.5k for their local charity Martha Trust by driving it to Rome in 2016 and Monte Carlo in 2017.
She is about to embark on another community project with ICHF highlighting the plight of our pollinators so will bee very buzzy!
This year Pat was also a Kent Regional Finalist in McCarthy and Stone's search for inspirational women!
